rhyme for sons

watching my sons at play at the farm inspired me to grab a pen
and rhyme

I want to tell you everyday

As the Lord taught us

To love your brother as yourself

Life is a series of hills and valleys

Of joy and cheers

as well as aches and tears

But sons remember

That up there in the sky is one sun

And a God who watches over us

So go and enjoy the years

Have fun playing as one

But remember to pray everyday

for life on earth may cease today

No one knows the time

So sons be good

A bread do share

to hate don't dare

For life is good

For those who would

Follow the path of sweet brotherhood

Be humble

Be meek

Be of service to those in need

My sons i have not

A penny to leave

But lots of LOVE for you to share and not just keep!

zen, your sons are so blessed to have a mother who's not only a wonderful doctor, but a great poet as well! i loved the poem, gurl. i could sense the immense love you have for your sons right there, in every line. there was nothing fake or pretentious about the poem. i can tell you wrote it particularly with your sons' future in mind. i pray your boys grow to be as God-fearing and kind and humble as their mother.

thank you for sharing such a worthwhile poem, zen! i totally loved it.

by the way, is that your rice field all 3 of you were staring at? love the peaceful, countryside view, zen.. and those clouds hovering over the trees and hills in the distance. wow. what a peaceful, simple, beautiful life.

oh, how much did you pay your sons to pose with their arms around each other, zen? hehehe. i ask because when i was that age, you could not pay me to pose like that with my little bro. sibling rivalry was strong between us:) if you made us pose like that, one of us would end up punching the other, hehe. of course your sons are probably the exception and probably get along wonderfully:) if that is the case, zen, consider yourself very lucky!:)

Your watch, and at the same time you are being watched.

This is life.

And watch out for every act that we are going to make.

Oooohhhh.... I am touched.... :)

And where are these photos taken at? It feels so good to stand on top of meadow-y hills like that and look over rice fields...I had the privilege of experiencing that before when I used to join my parents and church members on mission trips to the mountains in Mindanao...exhilerating....

What a virtuous mother! I taught my children the same as you do. I hope now that one of my girls is married, she would carry on the teachings I taught them when they were little. In that, I have no doubt. The best inheritance we can leave our children is the values we taught them. Happy Mothering!
